You know the old saying about change and how the more things change, the more they stay the same? Once again I am impressed with the wisdom of that statement.
After completing four years of marketing consulting for Venrock, a premiere venture capital firm, I decided it was a good time to contemplate what I wanted to do next. I left because we had accomplished everything we set out to do, culminating in our memorable 40th reunion and the publishing of our book, Shaping the Future. Now was a great time to be introspective, peel back the onion (really hate that saying) and decide what I want to be when I grow up (if ever).
Full-time work at a non-profit? A job-job as a Director of Marketing, not a giant stretch and it wouldn't carry the responsibility of a VP or CMO? Part-time as a barista at Starbucks, where I could rent a studio surfer apartment in Huntington Beach and just chill? As much as I move, how about real estate sales, where I can be a legal voyeur of people's homes?
And, as before, after reviewing all my options, I've decided that what I do best is what I do. I'm a consultant, and a damn good one at that. And I do really boffo events.
All I have to do is now match those who need a really good marketing consultant and/or a really good event productions firm to Boffo Productions and all will be right again in the universe.
Do you (or someone you know) need Boffo? Call us!
Post script: Latest must read is Cutting for Stone. A recommendation from Judy Graves (thanks), it is a keeper. Lush narrative, fascinating story line, characters that grab you and don't let go. This is one book you won't want to finish!
